Indoor Air Quality

Our Services

Indoor Air Quality

The AC Guys are dedicated to bringing peace and relaxation to our customer’s homes. Part of that peace includes knowing that the air in your home is as clean as possible. The air inside your home or business can be contaminated with up to 100 times more pollutants than the air outdoors, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America. Our technicians are equipped to provide you with tailored options to improve the air quality of your home or business.

Factors That Can Influence Your Indoor Quality

Particulates: As humans, we produce skin cells that fall loose and become dander. If you have pets, their dander is also regularly released into your home’s air. This dander is specifically unhealthy for those with respiratory conditions or serious allergies. Dust and pollen can also pollute your home’s air and contaminate your air quality.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs): VOCs include substances such as carbon monoxide, pesticides, engine exhaust, aerosol sprays, insect repellants, air fresheners, paints, solvents, permanent markers, craft materials, and certain building materials. Volatile organic compounds are defined by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as gases that contain a wide range of chemicals that are understood to have negative effects on the health of exposed individuals.

Biological Contaminants: Whenever too much moisture or water exists in an indoor space, the stage is set for biological agents such as mold and mildew to develop. The agents are capable of spreading inside of air ducts and vents, making one’s ability to notice and stop the spread of contaminants nearly impossible. Additionally, any bacteria or viruses can circulate within your indoor air, causing you to get sick.

How To Improve Indoor Air Quality

Proper Filtration

A mid-grade 1″ pleated filter, changed regularly, is a good start.  In most cases, we can upgrade your filter to a thicker one which will collect more pollutants from your home’s air.

Consistent Maintenance

During a seasonal maintenance visit, we clean several parts of your HVAC system.  We check for duct leaks which could be pulling in unfiltered air.  We look for places where “mold” could be growing.

Ductwork Cleaning

Dander, dust, pollen, etc. can build up over time in your duct system.  A thorough cleaning every few years may be recommended.

Air Purification

For a proactive and thorough approach, we recommend the UV technology of the REME-HALO.  It is installed directly in your ductwork and can help stop viruses, bacteria, and mold.
